What's on your nose, explained.
It starts with acetate sheets 6-8 mm thick: demi, black, blue, green, grey. Each colour is a different blend, which is why two frames in the same colour are never identical.
The front is milled out of the sheet, not moulded. What we take away ends up as shavings: what's left is one of a kind.
Three rounds on a cotton wheel. This is where acetate gets the depth that injected plastic will never have.
Cellulose acetate
It comes from cotton, not petroleum. It is cut from sheets, polished on a wheel and shaped to your face by heat: that's why after a few days it becomes yours.

UV400: blocks 100% of UVA and UVB. Category 3, the right one for southern sun at two in the afternoon.
A film inside the lens cuts horizontal glare: sea, tarmac, car bonnets. Your eyes relax without you even noticing.
UV400 polarised lenses
They cut the glare off sea and asphalt and filter out all ultraviolet. CELAB certified: the certificate is in the box, with the batch number.

The part that usually breaks first. Ours are metal and screwed into the acetate, not slotted in: they adjust, they can be replaced, they last.
